Abstract

Authors developed a modified method of segmental pulmonary resection. Main advantages of the method are: 1) preservation of venous drainage of adjacent segments; 2) less deformation of adjacent segments leading to less impairment of their function. 32 patients with surgical forms of pulmonary tuberculosis underwent segmentectomies using this method, without postoperative mortality; postoperative morbidity rate made up 6,2%. The method is safe and may potentially improve both immediate and long-term results of segmental pulmonary resections.
